Review by Andy David

DreamCloud claims to offer “premium materials at half the price”.

While they have a fancy website and plenty of customers, the question remains, ‘can they live up to their own marketing hype?’

In this review, I’ll be providing you with a detailed answer to that question. I will be taking an unbiased look at DreamCloud.

Together we’ll go straight past the marketing hype. And analyze everything from the comfort and value to the company’s reputation.

Let’s get started then.

DreamCloud was first released to market in 2018. It’s sold by the same company that sells the Nectar mattress.

Nectar is an all-foam mattress. While DreamCloud is a hybrid mattress with foam and pocket spring coils. Both are wildly popular with mattress buyers.

In 2019, the mattress design was updated, and significant changes made to the layers inside. We’ll be looking at the latest, current version.

DreamCloud Pros

1. Affordable Luxury

At just $999 for a queen, DreamCloud is the most affordable luxury hybrid mattress on the market. You get a lot of ‘bang for your buck’ with this mattress.

While the company claims the mattress has “8 layers” on their website. That’s more marketing hype than truth.

The mattress has 5 layers of high-quality materials. With a mix of foams and pocket spring coils. Totalling a massive 15” inch thickness.

The foams are CertiPUR-US® certified for safety too. All this adds up to a luxurious, comfortable sleeping experience every night.

For the money, DreamCloud packs in more luxury comfort than any other mattress. You get 5 star hotel comfort at a very affordable price.

2. Perfect for heavy people

With a monster 15” inch thickness, DreamCloud is the perfect match for heavy people. The pocket spring coils provide excellent support and stop you sinking into the mattress too far.

This is especially important for heavier people because too much sinkage causes lower back pain. To wake up pain free, you need good support and spine alignment. DreamCloud delivers both.

The foam layers above the springs also work well to gently cushion your body. If you’re heavy, you will find the support and luxury comfort you need with DreamCloud.

3. Popular medium firmness

DreamCloud is designed to be comfortable for most people. Little surprise that most customers choose to keep the mattress. Returns are low.

It has a 6.5 out of 10 firmness level. Which is a medium firmness that provides excellent support.

If you’re heavy weight or average weight, you will probably find this firmness comfortable.

Some people who are light weight might want a ‘plush’ feel and firmness. That’s not the DreamCloud unfortunately.

4. 365 night risk free trial

Okay, maybe you find out that the firmness is not right for you (unlikely and all). Maybe the mattress is too thick, just too much luxury packed in.

If for whatever reason the mattress is not working out for you in the first year, you can get a full refund. DreamCloud has a risk-free 365 night trial.

We carefully looked at this trial period and the policies. To see if there was any ‘gotchas’ the company wasn’t telling people about.

Turns out, there is none. The company makes returns super easy. You won’t have to pay anything because shipping is also free. There are no ‘gotchas’. This is the best trial offer in the mattress industry.

5. Back pain relief

DreamCloud is not too soft or too firm. Soft mattresses often cause upper back pain. Rock hard firmness can cause lower back pain and aches.

If you suffer from back pain at night, DreamCloud might be the one to help. The DreamCloud’s medium firmness is well known to help with lower and upper back pain problems.

I personally find memory foam combined with pocket spring coils to be perfect for spine alignment.

The springs keep you from sinking in too much. The memory foam cradles the body gently without being too firm and causing pain. Keeping your spine in alignment and you sleeping pain free.

My own experiences are backed by their customer reviews. There are many positive reviews by DreamCloud customers for back pain relief.

6. Lots of bounce for couples

Springs provide plenty of bounce. So if you want to get down with your partner, expect to have fun.

The mattress also has good motion isolation too. The pocket coils work well to stop motion transfer from one side to the other.

When you fall asleep after you’re done, it’s unlikely you will wake up during the night. Even with a restless partner tossing and turning.

7. Good cooling

DreamCloud has good cooling. It’s not the best in the market for cooling. But it’s close enough that overheating won’t be an issue.

Because you don’t sink too far into the mattress. There is good airflow around your body.

You won’t overheat. You won’t wake up covered in sweat either.

DreamCloud Cons

1. Delivery delays

Customers have reported delays with getting their mattresses shipped out sometimes. This seems to have been solved in recent times by the company.

But with the past issues, there is always a small risk.

I don’t believe there is delivery delays currently. All recent reports suggest customers are getting their mattresses fast and loving them.

2. Made in China

This could be a pro or con. It depends how you look at it. DreamCloud is made in China.

On the positive side, this means the company offers crazy low prices and great value. A queen comes in at $999 currently. That’s hard to beat.

On the negative side, the mattresses are not made in the USA. There are some other hybrid mattresses made in the USA close this price point. But not this cheap.

Whether this bothers you comes down to personal preferences. Manufacturing in China allows the company to offer affordable luxury for all.

3. Not ‘soft’ feeling

The mattress doesn’t have a ‘plush’ or soft feel. It’s a true medium firmness with a medium feel.

So if you want a plush feel, this is not for you.

There is other hybrid mattresses available with a soft feel and medium firmness like the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora.

But the price is almost $1,000 more than DreamCloud’s current price.

4. More expensive

Compared to some mattresses on the market, DreamCloud is more expensive.

It’s $300 more than the all-foam Nectar mattress, which is sold by the same group of companies. Nectar comes in at only $699 for a queen.

In the luxury hybrid market, DreamCloud is still the lowest priced. But if you’re on a tight budget, you can go lower than the DreamCloud to save.

5. Average edge support

The mattress has better edge support than most all-foam mattresses. But for a hybrid mattress with pocket spring coils, the edge support is average at best.

This will be a problem if you like to sleep on the very edge of the mattress (a bit odd?). Or you like to sit on the edge of the mattress.

The edge support is good enough to tie your shoes. But I don’t recommend it for sleeping right on the edge.

Do I recommend DreamCloud?

The answer is…it depends what you’re looking for.

DreamCloud is a great value luxury hybrid. It’s super comfortable. The thickness and support it offers is perfect for heavy people.

The 365-night risk free trial is a good offer. You can try DreamCloud without any real risks.

It’s not great for people wanting a ‘plush’ or soft feeling. It’s a true medium firmness with a medium feel.

For most people reading this, DreamCloud is worth a try. You will probably love it.

The mattress provides good lumbar support and spinal alignment. Back and stomach sleepers find DreamCloud relieves back pain.

Most people will find DreamCloud comfortable for side sleeping. But people who like a soft firmness may prefer another mattress.

DreamCloud is medium-firm. About 6.5 out of 10 firmness rating.

The mattress is 15 inches in height and made from 8 different layers.

No. The gel-infused cover and pocket coils work well to regulate temperature. But some hot sleepers may need better cooling.

Advertised to last a lifetime. But most memory foam beds will last around 10 years. After 10 years, the mattress is likely to lose comfort and need a replacement.

There is a slight smell after unboxing. This is the foams off-gassing after being compressed. Any smell soon goes away.
